Rounding the
first lap with everyone in front of me.
Second lap
gaining momentum and telling myself, “I can do this.”
Third lap
only halfway where I want to be.
Fourth lap
my energy is depleting.
Sixth lap I
trip and fall. But I get back up.
Seventh lap
where is everyone else? I’m all alone.
Eighth lap I
hear someone cheering me on. Only one person but it’s enough to not give up.
Ninth lap I
realize this is my race and no one else’s.
Tenth and
final lap I make it! I finish the race even when the odds are against me. I
cross the finish line because I do not give up on myself.
