Crossing the Finish Line

 

Rounding the first lap with everyone in front of me.

Second lap gaining momentum and telling myself, “I can do this.”

Third lap only halfway where I want to be.

Fourth lap my energy is depleting.

Fifth lap I need water.

Sixth lap I trip and fall. But I get back up.

Seventh lap where is everyone else? I’m all alone.

Eighth lap I hear someone cheering me on. Only one person but it’s enough to not give up.

Ninth lap I realize this is my race and no one else’s.

Tenth and final lap I make it! I finish the race even when the odds are against me. I cross the finish line because I do not give up on myself.
